BIBLE SCHOOL IN A BRIEFCASE

The "Bible School in a Briefcase"TM series is ICM's set of training tools for leaders to use in developing new leaders in the church, for pastors / leaders to disciple new believers, and for nationals to be released to plant churches.

The curriculum gives an achievable approach to world evangelism and sharing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Literally to thousands of leaders who have had no formal Bible School training this becomes their "Bible School in a Briefcase."TM

The Program "brings the Bible school to the people rather than the people to the Bible school". In short it is a Bible school in a briefcase. It is made concise so that it can be easily transported for distribution to the remote and sometimes almost inaccessible areas.

Vision of The Program
Today, many believers have accepted the challenge to win souls for God's kingdom but they lack the tools to do so. Not only do they lack the training, but multitudes in the third world also have hardly any Christian literature other than their Bibles. Although Bible schools are doing their best to train leaders, the need continues to grow at an expotential rate.

Many are saying, "give us the tools and we will get the job done", and we are saying to them, "here are the tools to help you train potential leaders to evangelize and plant churches."

The vision of ICM is to stir up cross-border vision for soul winning, discipleship and church planting. The goal is to set up as many Training Centers as possible where men and women can be equipped as evangelists, pastors and church planters effectively, and to achieve this by the most expeditious method and at a minimal cost.

It is in the pursuit of this vision that ICM created the Program, which was launched in 1994 as an effective tool to take the training to the people. The program can be implemented in "closed" or "restricted access" nations where the practice of Christianity is restricted or forbidden. It is cost effective as the course can be implemented without the buildings, facilities and sizeable staff that are commonly associated with an institution. The emphasis is on culturally authentic, non-institutional models of local churches, which often find expression as house churches.

The Program has been designed to expedite the multiplication of Training Centers through the following modes of operation.

  1. The Program is offered to all Christian organizations (such as local churches, missions organizations, colleges, etc) with a genuine burden to train potential leaders for evangelism, discipleship and church planting.
  2. The Christian organizations will implement the Program in-house using their own facilities and personnel with the help of ICM, i.e. these organizations become the Training Centers.
  3. These Training Centers will, in turn, plant new congregations and new Training Centers to run the Program.

Advantages of The Program
The Program is ideal for various reasons including the following:

  1. It does not require a dedicated physical building. It can be conducted in any existing premised or the pastor's home.
  2. It does not require the setting up of any academic faculty. The local pastor and his associates can teach this basic program.
  3. Administrative work can be kept to a minimum. Only basic records, such as students’ register, attendance records, plans and reports, etc., need be maintained.
  4. It is extremely cost effective. The Program is not meant for profit making. The general principle is to keep the Cost of running the Program as low as practical to maximize affordability.
  5. The Program is designed to be flexible and adaptable to local conditions.
    1. The Program can be adapted and implemented in such manner as is appropriate in the context of the prevailing circumstances, taking into account the culture of the local people.
    2. The timetable for teaching can be adapted to suit local conditions. It may be implemented, for instance, on a full-time or part-time basis, in day classes or night classes, weekly or monthly, depending on the proximity of the students, availability of transportation and other local factors.
  6. The course materials can be easily transported for distribution to remote and sometimes almost inaccessible areas.
  7. The course materials are presented in a manner that makes teaching easy. The subjects are presented in an outline format in the Curriculum so that they can be easily assimilated and the subjects can be taught directly from the notes provided.
