A Christmas Message by David Vardy, the Group Chairman of ICM

Every Christmas we have the glorious reminder of the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. I never cease to be thrilled by the glorious message of the angels to the shepherds “Don’t be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy for everyone! the Savior - Yes, the Messiah, the Lord – has been born tonight in Bethlehem in the City of David”. The angels of heaven joined in unison to declare “glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth to whom God favors”.

It is this timeless message we have the great joy and the obligation to proclaim. It is somewhat daunting, and challenging, to think the message which was originally given to the angels has now been given to people such as you and me. The angels had the advantage of declaring this message from the skies that lit up all around Bethlehem. Yet we need to be as excited and as enthusiastic about the message as they were.

I trust as you celebrate with family and friends the coming of the Lord Jesus we will be reminded of our obligation and our privilege to serve the King of Kings by declaring His name, His power, and His majesty wherever we are.

A Christmas Message by Founder/President of ICM

Hello saints! What a great day to be alive!

Christmas today, as it was 2000 years ago, cuts ironically both ways as a time of utmost joy and celebration for some and a time of deep sadness and depression for some others. It is an accepted fact that suicide help-lines ring off the hook at Christmas time and it has nothing to do with turkey, brandied puddings, sparkling, tinseled and coniferous firs or even Christmas presents. Some of the saddest at Christmastime are those with the most gifts!

I read in the newspapers the other day that Sears, one of the biggest chain of department stores in the world is selling ‘Holiday’ Trees and mandating that all its employees greet its customers with “ Have a Happy Holiday!” and never “Merry Christmas”. Take Christ out of Christmas and you are only left with a mas, a messy holiday at best! Why should we not be allowed Jesus’ Nativity scenes in public places when other religious festive symbols are displayed outrageously and without challenge. Imagine writing the name of a prophet from another religion on a doll and it becomes an offence punishable with prison sentence.

Have Christians been so brow beaten today to be so politically correct that we are afraid of standing up for the very Reason for the season? Or have we by our passive acquiescence become so ‘civilized’ that fighting and standing up for our faith, beliefs AND rights seem too barbaric, only to be left for citizens of the third world? Are we so entrenched in the comfort and security of the only Peace that passes all understanding that we have become slothful and slovenly soldiers of the Cross? Heaven forbid. Scripture tells us that if we are ashamed of Him in public, He will be ashamed of us in heaven.

Take heart my fellow sojourners. All is not lost. Christ our Redeemer is still on the throne empowering even the least in His Kingdom to do mighty exploits in loudly quiet ways. As in 1 Kings 19:18 when God reassures Elijah who was in his desperate depressive state that He has… “yet reserved seven thousand whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and all whose mouths have not kissed him”, so too He tells us today that we are not alone in this battle.

I was standing in line at the post office a week ago when a counter clerk quickly processed all my mailings in double quick time and ended with “Is there anything else I can do for you?” Tongue in cheek I replied, “Yes, can someone help me pay for Christmas?” Without hesitation, she said “He HAS paid for it all, sir!” Taken aback, I managed to reply “Yes indeed HE has paid it all and for us all! Thank you and may you have a blessed Christmas”, to which she gave a knowing nod and smile of camaraderie!

Only when you accept His payment for your sins, His payment to buy you out of hell and a ticket to Heaven, can you then be assured of a blessed and joy-filled CHRISTmas! Celebrating Christmas any other way will make it just another holiday.

If you have already accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then ask our blessed Lord what He wants for His birthday. Perhaps you can give Him your heart all over again. What about showing more love to your aged parents this year or showing love to that difficult neighbor next door. Tell them in the same equietly loud way of the post office counter clerk of your Savior and the love He has for them.

Every Christmas give the Messiah something of yourself that will delight Him anew. You’ll be surprised how fast He reverses the benefits of the gift back to the giver.

Of course as President of ICM, I have to remind you that this Christmas there are still many who have never heard of the Name of CHRIST. The Holy Spirit is touching lives and many are brought into the Kingdom. At no time in the history of Christianity has the church seen the growth it is experiencing today. Literally tens of thousands are coming to Christ daily. With growth comes the inevitable issue of training leadership and the need to disciple new believers. As new churches are formed, the need for training new leadership is urgent. As a businessman, I understand the returns on my investment and in this case, it is beyond any measurement.

Saints, as the Lord prospered you this year, if you are thinking of directing your gifts to Christian and charitable organizations beyond your tithes and offering to your church, please think of the work of ICM. We are continually challenged to start new work and have never turned down any such invitation. But we cannot do it alone. Thank you for standing with us and on behalf of my Board and the family of ICM, may you and your loved ones have a blessed Christmas!
