saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
David Vardy who is also our Chairman of ICM
United Kingdom gave a strong and anointed message from 1 Corinthians
16:9 “… a great door for effective work has
opened to me and there are many who oppose me”.
A summary
of his text reads as follows:
Paul was
writing from Ephesus. Paul had wanted to go to Corinth but
recognised there was a greater need to stay in Ephesus. Every step
of his life was ordered by God. He especially wanted to take
advantage of the open door in Ephesus.
OPPORTUNITY
– “a great door for effective work”.
At one time during his 2nd missionary journey (Acts 16:6), Ephesus
was closed to Paul by the Holy Spirit. Paul was determined to take
the Gospel to centers of power & influence. Now a door previously
closed was opened. He was not going to miss the opportunity. Here
he could preach Christ in the centre of organised idolatry,
glamorised sin & desperate special need. For 2 years he preached in
the lecture hall of Taranus. Many were saved and the sick healed.
Books about magic were burned. Then trouble came. The business of
Demetrius, a successful silversmith making silver shrines of
Artemis/Diana, was in danger. Craft workers recognized that the
Gospel would spoil
