International Christian Mission 2006 Latest : Why short-term missions trip?

UPDATE

November 17, 2005

Edwin Marsden, our International Director with W. Curtis of Christian Alliance inspected the 40 ft medical clinic in Houston USA

The Medical Clinic, seen above, was converted from a former 40' foot shipping container and transported to North Sumatra in October 2006. Each clinic contains three examination stations with privacy clinics, sinks with water filtration, storage area with supplies and an air conditioning unit. A diesel-powered generator is also included.

The shipping container will be used as medical facilities for dentists, general practitioners, and surgeons. The containers can also become bunkhouses with doors, windows, baths and bedrooms to provide housing for 10-14 people for use in the mission field or during a disaster, where housing is limited or non-existent.

On November 19, 2005, the Governor of North Sumatra will be accompanied by our Founder/President to dedicate the Clinic. At the ceremony will be our medical team consisting of Dr Derek Allen, our principal medical officer, Dr JoVee Dignadice, our general surgeon and Ms Margaret Thorpe our Registered General and Obstetric Nurse. Unfortunately our primary Registered Nurse Dina Tagal cannot be with us at the ceremony.

A team representing the donors from the USA and headed by Brother Chuck Jones and his wife Susan will be in North Sumatra to visit the clinic and hold a crusade in the evening.   ICM’s graduates will be assigned to assist the medical team in the day and act as counselors for new converts in the evening.

Several other medical containers will be donated and placed in different parts of the disaster areas in North Sumatra.  Please pray for medical personnel who could volunteer their time to man these clinics.
