THAILAND
1. Since the South East Asia Congress on Evangelism ("SEACOE") held in Singapore between the 17th to the 21st of June 2002, the churches in Thailand have been experiencing tremendous growth. This is particularly so in the Northern Region of Thailand. When I co-coordinated the Congress on behalf of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and national council of churches in Asia, I found Thailand to be the most responsive to training. Out of the 1800 participants from over 22 nations, Thailand sent over 460 delegates. Following SEACOE, a Committee was formed in Thailand called the Thailand Evangelism and Church Planting Committee. ICM was privileged to be invited to conduct training for the churches.
2. Training started in Mae Hongsan, located at the very northern tip of Thailand , near to the Myanmar border. The participants are made up of senior pastors and evangelists ministering in the northern region, particularly among the hill tribes of the Yao , the Akha, the MHong, the Kayan, the Lisu the Lahu and the Lawa. Attached is a photo taken with the students at the training on March 7th to the 10th. The next training will be increased to 50 students and will be held on April 25th to 28th, 2005. Please pray for the training, the participants and the Faculty.
3. ICM is deeply grateful to Campus Crusade for Christ, Thailand and its national director, Rev Enoch Yittasuk Sirikul and its Special Project Director, Dr Somdee Poosawtsee for the extraordinary support they have given to ICM since the time of SEACOE. I want to thank Dr Somdee for organising and teaching at the first session. He will also be on the faculty of the second training session.
4. Knowing the extent of the work, ICM has enlarged its administrative support for ICM Thailand. Let me introduce to you our new director Rev Andrew Jiang Yiming who replaces Toshnapong, the former director who resigned from ICM to work with another organisation .
